This week's sketch is live over at Twisted Sketches! Go check it out! This week's twist was 'fresh' and the ENTIRE Twisted Sketches DT played along this week. Talk about some amazingly talented women over there!
For this week's sketch I used Sass's "Indie Girl"...which has quickly become one of my favorite lines. The photos are of my wonderful kids, The Tribe.
|You Refresh Me (Sketch #086)|
There are some unique things on this page...and a couple of firsts for me! The lace flowers are handmade! Anyone who knows me, knows that I HATE SEWING! But I felt that this page needed some kind of "soft something". Ever have that feeling? "It needs SOMETHING!"
Well, I had this trim from A Million Memories that I had been holding onto. I was looking at it and it hit me...grudgingly. "I need lace flowers." Soooooo I trudged over to my sewing box, sighed, then slowly grabbed the needle and thread. You would've thought I was grabbing something gross or something from an alien planet. But after some mental pep talking, (yes, sewing is that traumatic for me), I threaded the needle and just went to town.
And I must say, I LOVED IT! I love the end result. For my first time making my own lace flower, I love how it turned out! They are PERFECT and just that "something" this page needed! And I can't believe how stupid easy it was to do.
All I did was use a running stitch, pull the stitches together tightly so that it creates a ruffle. To "seal" it, I just used a glob of hot glue, added a vintage button or rosette, and VOILA! Instant vintage flair! That vintage button is also something I had been holding to. I believe it's by Making Memories and the rosette is by Recollections.
These darling little buttons are a unique find. They are buttons that I found in my mom's antique button stash that I have acquired (heeheehee). And these buttons are, in fact, antique.
Using antique buttons has become my new "thing" lately. I love the personality they add and the fact that they are "unique". I have a stash of these little beauties and I tend to be very picky on what pages I use them on. After all, once they're gone, they're gone.
Some other details, the photo is framed using trim from A Million Memories. The alphas are American Crafts Thickers (aren't they just absolutely addicting?). The sparkly leaves were a treasure of a find from Michael's (and a total moolah saver...check out this post for the tips on saving).
Anyway, thank you for stopping by and checking out my latest page for Twisted Sketches. This sketch site is truly and inspiration in of itself. Please head on over to Twisted Sketches and check out the amazing work this design team has done and Anam inspire you....with a twist!
