Upcycling, Shirts, and General Backwardness!

Good morning, my gauchey gals!  I can finally share a work I did for Gauche Alchemy last month using some interesting items that I'm sure you have buried in a drawer, closet, and if you don't go take some from the hubs!  For those of you who are new here, Gauche Alchemy is a mixed media store and kit club that specialized in mixed media and anything atypical in this wonderfully addictive hobby of ours.  Heck, even WE are atypical!  *wink*

Ok.  Now that we got the formalities and humdruminess done, let's move on to the juicy stuff!  The meat 'n' taters!  The big chicken!  ::drum roll:: BAH...drum roll....SHAKE THE CHAMPAGNE BOTTLES AND POP THE CORKS!

My first canvas piece!  You all should be standing and clapping right now!

As intricate as this piece looks, it was surprisingly easy to do.  However, it is time consuming.  I used an 11x14 canvas available at any craft store.  The background, and here's where the upcycling awesomeness comes in, is an old shirt of mine.  I glued it using Mod Podge and a sponge brush.  The frame is stained using Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze in "Cowboy" and "Chianti".

Using Blue Moon glass beads, tweezers, and Zip Dry glue, I applied each of the beads.  Hand cramps?!  Oh dear lawd!  Yes!

Of course, I had to connect with my inner scrapbooker and had to add some tiny photos!  What better accent than some funky awesome Punchinella! The sequins and bows are from the "Purple People Eater" mixed media color kit.

And to finish it off and add some more color, I used a big ol' big ribbon and tied a simple bow.

And there you have it in all of its upcycled glory!  Ridiculously easy to do too!  It just take some patience and some hand massages.  Well, since we're talking massages.....  ;)  I'm off to grab some good eats and a couple mimosas!  Happy Humpty-Hump Day!

Oh!  Don't forget that the last day to enter to win the awesomeness Gauche Alchemy is giving away is TODAY at midnight PST.
