May Arts and Splash of Color Ornaments

Hello Muses!  I hope you all are doing well.  Today's post is a bit early for Christmas but I have got to make my ornaments this year since everything is in storage back in the states.  I don't mind though.  The kids can participate....and argue....and I can spend "quality" time with them....and drink....  Just kidding.  Kind of.

Here's what I'm going to show you how to make.  Ok.  Not really "show".  More like "tell" because I forgot to take pictures of each step.  But it's simple enough to do.

Here's what you'll need:

First, tear your ephemera into small pieces.  Using Mod Podge and sponge brush, stick the paper pieces to your ornament until the ornament is covered.  If you are using decorative tape, just tear small strips and stick them to the ornament.  The ornaments below are done using decorative tape and old sheep music.  The houndstooth ornament was made by my daughter.

Next, apply a coat of Mod Podge over the ephemera or the tape.  This will help seal it and keep loose ends from lifting.  While the Mod Podge is still wet, sprinkle on the glitter.  Don't be shy either!  Set the ornament aside to complete drying.  Since I'm all about class, I use shot glasses as drying stands.  After all, I am a multi-tasker!  ;)

Finally, you can decorate however you see fit.  I used my copper and bronze Pearl Pens to draw a design onto the ornament. I used some May Arts ribbon to finish it all off.

Here's my little group of ornaments.  The third ornament is made with gold decorative tape and some stamping.
