Good morning hoppers! I hope you all have been enjoying the tons of inspiring projects all three teams have been sharing this week. And talk about a FABULOUS giveaway right??!! I wish I could enter to win that bad boy! Not sure what the hub-bub is all about? Well keep reading and I'll spill the beans at the end.
You should have arrived from Emily's blog. If not, head on back to May Arts and find out where to begin. And while you're there, you can check out the rest of the hop from earlier this week too!
Now I've been itching to do a layout lately. I started out in this hobby doing layouts and over the last couple of years, I've gotten away from doing them because I favor more of the "alter"nate side of things, if ya know what I mean. So since we teamed up with Little Yellow Bicyle and Xyron, I thought it was a good time to try and bust one out.
For my page, I wanted to knock the rust off the ol' hinges so I went on the hunt for an awesome sketch. And I found one! This sketch is by Liz Chidester for Practical Scrappers. She has some really cool sketches up on her blog and encourage you to take a look.
I was drawn to this sketch because of how I could use some mixed media elements in it. Here's what I came up with.
I thought Little Yellow Bicycle's "Poppy" line was perfect for my photos of the kids at Cape Hedo. The bright, summery colors just made me feel happy. See what I did there? I slapped some modeling paste down! Go me!
I was inspired by the waves and water when I made my little ruffle down there. Did you know that this was pretty darn easy to make? I grabbed my chevron twill and I just made my folds and glued them down with Xyron's double sided tape. Those folds aren't going anywhere now! Once I was done, I ran that li'l sucker through my Create A Sticker. That little tool is bad ass! I love it!
I really like the raw look when it comes to wood veneers. I wanted a kinda subtle highlight so I wrapped my frame with some May Arts twine.
I think I have some rust that still needs to be banged off....hard. But it's a starting place right?
Ooooooh. Now ya wanna know all about this li'l ol' giveaway don't you? Well, it's easy. Just leave a comment along the way and you are entered to win 3 spools of your choice from May Arts.
